STANDARDS

ADE works closely with the Depart of Education to design curriculum that meets education standards.  We specialize in addressing the Language Arts and Fine Arts standards while reinforcing the core Oral Communication, Life Skills and Fine Arts curriculum.  The information below details the specific standards we meet:

 

A.  Career & Life Skills

Students develop skills + attributes that are critical to a person's ability to successfully navigate the world in and out of school, at work and at home;  (thinking and reasoning skills, personal qualities, interpersonal skills).

B.  Fine Arts Connection:  Understanding + Applying

Music:  Sing a variety of music alone or with others.

Drama & Theatre:  Understand + apply theatre skills to develop + communicate a story.  Understand + apply the skills of acting.

C.  Language Arts

Reading + Literature:  Students will respond to texts from a range of stances;  initial understanding, personal, interpretive, and critical.

Writing:  Students will write using various forms to communicate for a variety of purposes + audiences. 

Students will use writing processes and strategies appropriately and as needed to construct meaning and communicate effectively.

D.  Oral Communications

Students will communicate orally using various forms - interpersonal, group, and public - for a variety of purposes.

Students will use strategies within speaking and listening processes to construct and communicate meaning.

Students will apply knowledge of verbal and nonverbal language to communicate effectively.

Students will adopt messages appropriate to audience, purpose, and situation.

Students will demonstrate confidence as communicators and find value and satisfaction in communicating with others.

Students will understand diversity in language, perspective, and/or culture and use speaking and listening to foster understanding.

E.  Physical Education

Students demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in physical settings.

Students demonstrate understanding + respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.

F.  Science

Doing safety:  Students demonstrate the importance of safety by applying safety skills in all activities.

G.  Social Studies

History:  Historical Inquiry:  Use the tools and methods of historians to transform learning from memorizing historical data to "doing history".

Cultural Anthropology:  Cultural Diversity and Unity:  Understand and respect the myriad of ways that society addresses human needs and wants.

H.  World Language:  Cultures

Demonstrate an understanding of culture through the study of the relationship among practices, perspective, and products of another culture.
