ADE receives national
recognition 2005
We are are proud to announce that ADE has been named a semi-finalist for the "Coming Up Taller" Award,
presented annually by the President's Committee on Arts and Humanities.
50 programs were chosen as semi-finalists from the hundreds of
nominations by state and non-profit agencies from throughout the United
States.
The Coming Up Taller Awards recognize and support outstanding
after-school community arts and humanities programs for underserved
youth. From learning and performing in dance, drama and design as a
means to personal growth, these programs celebrate the creativity of
young people and the value their communities place on providing all
children with opportunities to succeed. The awards also highlight the
contributions of historians, scholars, and visual and performing artists
in mentoring children.
The finalists will be announced by the end of June 2005. If chosen, ADE
will be honored in a ceremony by First Lady Laura Bush this fall in
Washington, DC. In addition, the program will receive $10,000 in honor
of its accomplishments.
We were honored to be nominated by the State Foundation on Culture and
the Arts and very pleased to know that along with ADE, CPAC (Castle
Performing Art Complex) was also named one of the 50 semi-finalists. ADE
and CPAC have worked together partnering on projects for the last 25
years, so congratulations to all our friends at CPAC!
