ADE

FOUNDERS

Walt Dulaney (right) and George Kon (left) have collaborated for four decades.  In 1980 they teamed up with President Ronald E. Bright, VP James Nakamoto, Secretary Sandy Erlandson, and Treasurer Sue Loudon to create ADE.  Their work has been honored by Hawaii's Legislators and the International Thespian Society.  They have received a number of awards including:  the first Hawaii Alliance for Arts in Education Alfred Preis Award;  the Hawaii State Theatre Council's Pierre Bowman Lifetime Achievement Award;  and, the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Hookele Award as “steersmen for education and arts”.

  • Walt Dulaney (Executive Director of ADE and Producer/Writer for T-Shirt Theatre)  Walt holds a communications degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, is a graduate of the USC Film School, and was Hawaii state director for the International Thespian Society.  He co-taught the NYU program with George.  Walt serves on the 2005 DOE Fine Arts Standards Review Panel and offers community input on Farrington’s Accreditation Committee.

  • George Kon (Artistic Director of T-Shirt Theatre and Managing Director of ADE)  George co-founded a professional theatre company that thrived for eight years in Iowa and Baltimore.  At its height, the Iowa Theatre Lab was invited to the Experimental Theatre Festival in Nancy, France.  George also instructed in the New York University’s Experimental Theatre Wing for several years before relocating to Hawaii.  See Honolulu Advertiser Leadership Corner feature on George.
